| Biography: |
Feridun Hamdullahpur, was the University of Waterloo's sixth president and vice-chancellor (2010-2021) and has been an engineer, educator and leader over the span of his career in research and higher education. Throughout his career, Professor Hamdullahpur has been an active researcher in thermo-fluids and energy engineering, a passionate teacher and an academic administrator. He was named a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in 2014. He has served in various academic and administrative roles, including as a vice-president academic and provost at the University of Waterloo. Professor Hamdullahpur was named a Specially Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) in 2018. This designation recognizes individuals who have made exceptionally valuable contributions to promoting the objectives of the RSC in ways that contribute significantly to Canadian society. In acknowledgment of Professor Hamdullahpur’s leadership in education and innovation, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in January 2013. |

Professor Jianlei Niu received his BEng and MSc degrees from Tsinghua University and PhD from Delft University of Technology. He also had an experience of an R&D engineer with a utility manufacturer in UK during his tenure as a lecturer with Tsinghua University, researching on clean coal-combustion technologies. In the period from Feb 12, 2017 to Feb. 9, 2019, he was a Professor of Building, Environment and Energy, a conjoint appointment of School of Architecture, Design and Planning and School of Civil Engineering, The University of Sydney. His technology contributions are in a broad area linking thermal and fluid sciences with building environment, and his current research topics include indoor environmental quality, thermal comfort, thermal energy storage, HVAC and urban microclimate. During his tenure with HKPolyU, he secured 18 RGC CERG/GRF grants, along with two ITF grants, two RFCID/HMRF grants and one RGC/NSFC joint grant, and one RGC CRF grant as a Co-PI. He has successfully supervised over 20 PhD students. He is currently leading a RGC Theme-based-research-scheme(TRS) project. He is the editor-in-chief of the Elsevier journal Energy and Buildings. He was awarded the fellowship by three leading societies, ASHRAE(American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers), ISIAQ(International Society of Indoor Air Quality) Academy of Fellows, and IBPSA (International Building Performance Simulation Association) Academy of Fellows. |

Iordache Ioan graduated from the Technical University of Iași, Romania, in the field of Environmental Engineering, in 2000, and continued and completed his master's degree with a specialization in Environmental Management, in 2001. Ioan completed a PhD in Chemistry at the same university in 2007 and another PhD at POLITEHNICA Bucharest, in the field of Industrial Engineering, in 2015. In the last two decades, his qualification and experience have been focused on the field of hydrogen energy, research and applications. He is the Romanian delegate to the Clean Hydrogen Partnership (CHP) and was elected chair of the States Representatives Group (SRG) within European Clean Hydrogen Partnership (CHP) in 2022. Ioan is now the General Director of the National Institute for Research, Development and Testing in Electrical Engineering ICMET Craiova. |

Prof. Aziz is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo, and leads the Energy and Process Integration Laboratory. His research focuses on advanced energy conversion systems, including energy modeling and optimization, renewable energy utilization, and hydrogen production, storage, and utilization. His work incorporates big data and artificial intelligence for energy system modeling, as well as chemical looping technologies and metal hydride–based systems for clean hydrogen production and storage. |

Prof. Dr. Haitham Saad Mohamed Ramadan obtained his PhD from the Department of Energy and Automatic Control of École Supérieure d'Électricité (SUPELEC), University of South Paris XI, France in March 2012. In 2024, Prof. Dr. Ramadan received his Professorship of Control by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in France. His fields of interest include hydrogen reservoirs and hydrogen storage systems, power systems control and optimization, sustainability, multi-physical modelling of energy systems, renewable energy (Solar and Wind), hybrid power systems, hydrogen economy, hydrogen technologies, Fuel Cells and Batteries, Energy Management topics, electric and hybrid electric vehicles, microgrids, smart grids and HVDC. |

Dr. Reza Vatankhah Barenji is a Professor in the Engineering Department at Nottingham Trent University, specialising in Industry 4.0, digitalisation, artificial intelligence applications, and sustainable systems engineering. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, has led or contributed to research projects worth approximately £2.8 million, and has published over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles. His current research focuses on the application of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) in the energy sector, particularly for data-driven decision support and sustainable system optimisation. |

Dr. Serdar Akça graduated and received his doctorate from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University in 2000 and 2014, respectively. His fields of interest include diesel, alternative and dual-fuel engines for heavy-duty commercial vehicles, marine engines for propulsion & genset applications and complete powertrain solutions for off-rod vehicles. Having a professional engineering experience in Turkiye automotive sector more than 20 years, he currently works as an Engine Design Department Director at BMC POWER. |

Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Demir served as Assistant Professor and Vice Dean of the Department of Business Administration at Kırklareli University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences from 2009 to 2015. Between 2015 and 2016, he served as Financial Affairs Manager at STM Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc., a subsidiary of the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries. In August 2016, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Demir was appointed Head of Accounting and Financial Control at Turkish Airlines Joint Stock Company. Effective April 2022, he was appointed Deputy General Manager (Finance) at Turkish Airlines Technical Inc. |

He received his undergraduate degree in Energy Systems Engineering from Bahçeşehir University, his master's degree in MBA from Istanbul Bilgi University, and his doctorate in Energy Technology from Ege University. His research focuses on gas-fired internal combustion engines, energy storage, and alternative energy technologies. |
